Madelyn is 5 months

I am a little late posting this but Madelyn is 5 months. She's becoming so much fun!
  • She smiles when you say hi to her and continues to bring us happiness.
  • She is working on sitting up on her own and slowly learning to brace herself. It's funny though to just watch her fall over on her side.
  • She is learning how to reach for and grasp things.  Her control over this is greatly improving each day:)
  • She has discovered her voice some and is starting to "carry on conversations"
  • She still hasn't figured out her doorway jumperoo but likes spinning in it.
  • She also has grown super attached to her thumb and even takes her pacifier out of her mouth so that she can hold it and suck her thumb.
  • She is becoming more and more interested in her surroundings and getting good at picking up anything and putting it in her mouth.
  • She also appears to be more interested in what we are eating. Her time is coming!
  • She did get her first bad cold this month. She was stuffed up and didn't enjoy the aspirator.  She now has a cough which I think she might have the rest of the winter.
  • She's napping with one arm out mostly because she likes to suck her thumb.

Baby Girls!

Our infant massage class got together. Here are some cute photos of the girls.

Circle time
Eliza, Madelyn, Ava, Cecilia, and Annabel
The photo below makes me laugh:  Doesn't it look like Madelyn is causing trouble? Eliza (on the left) is just looking at her saying what are you doing.

Some Cute Photos!

Cousin Fun

We had Connor over at our house a couple weekends in a row and it was fun to take photos of the cousins.  They look to be about the same size but Connor is a little heavier and the way he's been eating, he'll be leaving Madelyn in the dust soon.  Note in these photos Connor is11 months old and Madelyn is 4 months old.

Connor was ready to eat so we placed Madelyn in front of him so she can start to learn how it's done. She watched him the whole time so it was cute.

We watched Connor after Breakfast with Santa.  Here they are hamming it up for the camera.

Madelyn's Big Accomplishment!

Madelyn's big accomplishment is that she no longer needs to be swaddled to sleep at night.  Thanksgiving weekend we swaddled her with one arm out and she did great. Slept the whole night and we didn't hear a peep out of her.  We continued to swaddle her with one arm out for a whole week and that's when we found her one morning sucking her thumb.  We have a feeling the thumb sucking (which is new) was what helped keep her asleep.  Then last weekend, we swaddled her with both arms out and she slept great also and has for a whole week. It's exciting. At times it felt like Madelyn would always need to be swaddled to sleep.  But it is also a little sad, she's no longer a newborn!  She does though still need her swaddle for naps.  One step at a time...

We caught you!  After I took this, she woke up from the flash. Luckily it was time to get up.

Madelyn meets Santa

Madelyn got to meet Santa! My sister organized a Breakfast with Santa event at her school and invited us to come. Madelyn did great and even got a nice toy from him but I think she liked the wrapping paper better. Here are some cute photos.

Madelyn & Connor's 1st Thanksgiving

We celebrated Madelyn's & Connor's first Thanksgiving at my parents house. Madelyn surprised us all by sitting contently in the big high chair while Connor STUFFED his face. It was so much fun.  She celebrated by wearing her "Little Turkey" shirt :)

Happy Madelyn
