Happy Valentine's Day

Madelyn dressed up for Valentine's Day and even made her dad and teachers a card!

She was proud of her card, she wanted to show Leia

Funny Video with a Balloon

I meant to post this video from Connor's party. It's so cute to see Madelyn close her eyes when it gets close.

7 Months

Madelyn is now the big 7 as in 7 months old!  Here's what Madelyn has been up to the last month. She is still pretty quiet but she has started babbling some.

  • She has started eating and is actually swallowing some food. How do we know you may ask? You can see the chucks in her diaper :) Good job Madelyn! You figured out how to swallow. And her poop STINKS! (I miss the breastmilk only diapers that didn't hardly smell).
  • She can give high fives and loves staring at ceiling fans.  She seems to look at the switch and then at the fan as though she knows how they get turned on.
  • She giggles and laughs when daddy pretends to hiccup, sneeze, or cough. But she will not do this for mommy or when daddy actually does these, just when he pretends.
  • She's sleeping on her stomach for naps but seems to remain on her back during most of the night.
  • She's become a talented one-handed person as her other thumb is usually in her mouth.
  • She sits really well and only falls over when she leans forward to grab at things far away. She hasn't figured out how to get back into sitting position.
  • She is still a great sleeper sometimes sleeping at much as 13 hours on the weekends when we don't have to wake her up for school. She usually goes to bed around 6:30 pm and we wake her up around 6 am.
  • She seems to be happier after daycare even though she is not taking great naps.  I think the thumb is helping and her interest in toys is increasing.
  • She also has made it her job in life to take our glasses off our faces. I think she thinks they aren't supposed to be on our face since both of us usually wear contacts. It can become quite the game.
Since Madelyn turned 7 months old on Sunday, here's a "in the day of a 7 month old" post:

My mom told you I like my thumb, right?

There's a smile!

Oh ceiling fan. I love to look at you.

I love to eat books!

Breakfast: Pumpkin on Toast and Pears.

Still not a jumper!

Do you like my sock "hat?"

Isn't this how you are supposed to sleep?

Green beans for the first time

I LOVE my chicken!

Shopping with mommy. I like to take her pen.

Still a champ at another store.

Time for a bath--Does this look like a mug shot?

Bath Time Fun

Madelyn had a bad diaper rash probably because of the antibiotics she was on for her ear infection (which was probably a result of RSV.)  We gave her tub soaks two times a day and lots of naked time to try to heal it. Here are some photos from the tub:

Splashing!

Sick Madelyn

Madelyn had RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) and was home from school for a week.  She was horribly sick and one day we even had to do nebulizer treatments on her. She had a terrible cough and would cough so hard that she'd throw up. She didn't want to take her bottle so daddy brought her to mommy's work on the days he stayed home with her to get some fluids in her.   We didn't take many photos but here are a few from that time.

Napping with Mommy the day before we knew she was sick.
So sick. Poor thing
Enjoying some time in the swing. She learned to hang on!

Mommy and Me Class Reunion

We all got together at Red Robin to say good bye to our friends Melissa and daughter Harper who are moving to Singapore for 3-4 years! We'll miss them at our future get togethers.  It's crazy to see how much they all have grown since September!

Madelyn showed off her eating skills. Annabel was intrigued.

Sledding

Madelyn went sledding for the first time Sunday, January 22nd.  Here are some cute photos and video. Check out Madelyn's snowpants! They were Juliana's but are 12 months so I taped the legs so I didn't have to bother with boots--She looks like she is missing her feet but I promise you she is not--her feet were just nice and warm.  We were surprised at how well Madelyn did in the cold weather. She even was smiling some especially when her dad would pull her.
