11/27/14 Thanksgiving

We flew to Omaha for Thanksgiving. It was a great trip!  We were luckily to have Thanksgiving dinner at a kid's gym where the girls had a great time playing with their second cousins. We had some photos taken by Brian's cousin's wife. It was so wonderful to see everyone and so nice to have photos taken that were given to Brian's grandparents as a special memory.

Our flight out was uneventful except for what felt like 10 minutes (but was probably less) of Allison crying until she feel asleep for the rest of the flight.  Unfortunately our trip back was a different story.  Since the Omaha airport is so small, there wasn't a line for security so we hung out outside of security until close to our boarding time. When we decided to go through security, I was holding Allison so I went through the metal detector and had my hands swabbed. To my surprise, my hands were positive and I had to go for additional screening and was told to hand Allison over to Brian. After I pointed out which was my suitcase, Madelyn came up beside me to hug my leg so I hugged her back and was quickly told I could touch no one which upset Madelyn. So Brian ended up taking care of Allison, a crying Madelyn and our luggage all while hearing last call for our flight!  After they swabbed my suitcase, I had to go behind closed doors for a private screening. All in all, I was released and they told me it was probably something from diaper cream or baby wipes.  We grabbed our stuff and ran to the gate where we were told they switched our seats because of the lap child.  They kept arranging the seats so that I was going to have both kids by myself until a man said there are four seats (two right in front of the other) sit where you want but the lap child has to be in the even row. This ended up being a blessing because Madelyn didn't want to leave my side with the what had just happened at security.  Madelyn sat with me and Allison until she was calm and happy and then went up front to sit with Brian.  Luckily the actual flight back was uneventful!

Madelyn the Gymnast

Madelyn's really been enjoying her gymnastic class she's been taken this past fall. She loves that her friend Abby is taking it with her too. Coach Kyle is great with the girls and Madelyn is a monkey on the bars!  These photos were taken through the looking glass so they aren't the greatest. Check out the video of Madelyn doing a few tricks!

11/23/14: Rollar Skating

My parent's subdivision had a fundraiser at Aurora Skate.  I wasn't sure if Madelyn would want to do it since she was not a fan of ice skating last year. She surprised me and really wanted to go when she woke up from nap so I figured we'd try it. I didn't get skates thinking Madelyn would want to hold my hand but she surprised me by wanting to be on her own about 20 minutes after we got there!  They had these great SkateMates to help kids learn to balance. Check out Madelyn in the videos below.

And they all fall down!

So much fun!

11/22/14: Operation Christmas Party

Madelyn loved going to help pack shoeboxes for kids around the world who have nothing. This year her friends, Eliza and Annabel, came to help fill shoe boxes too!
