9 months old

Madelyn is 9 months old and she is learning so much every day and it's hard to keep up with everything she is mastering.
  • She got her first tooth (bottom left) Sunday, March 18th while daddy was in China. Her second one (bottom right) followed the next week.
  • She says ba, ba a lot now.
  • She started clapping on Friday, March 16th which was a nice treat for daddy to see before he left.  She claps constantly and is very proud of herself.
  • She's a good little swimmer. She loves her Aquatots class.
  • She blowing raspberries or vibrating her lips (she is good at imitating this too).
  • She loves to talk and smile at the animals. She especially loves Preta and always smiles and laughs when she sees him.
  • She's mastered her pincer grasp (thumb and pointer finger together)
  • She blows kisses when she wants :)
  • She is giggling like crazy for daddy.
  • She makes her grimace face which sounds like "hehehehe" which is basically her blowing air out her nose and sucking back in.
  • She is going to bed around 7 pm now that skipping dinner isn't an option any more. She is a big eater now.
  • She isn't crawling but she is getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. She is also good at scooting backwards and ends up in corners frustrated a lot. She can usually get to things she wants.
  • She is standing at her table and piano with good balance and starting to try to pull herself up.
  • She loves to drink out of her sippy cup. She's figured out how to get it to her mouth and how to get water out of it but most of the time she doesn't swallow the water but it dribbles out of her mouth onto her chest. (babysteps right?)
  • She's addicted to coconut oil! She puts her hands in the jar while I massage and eats it! I guess it's her dessert!
  • She likes to turn off light switches by throwing her hand at it until it turns off.
It seems like this last month she's really learned a lot!  She is studying and figuring out how things work.  She enjoys her books and loves to hold them and turn the pages.

I love our Saturday morning breakfasts together.  Madelyn always in such a good mood and we can take the time to have a nice meal together.

One-eyed Madelyn

I love playing with my feet!
I like this toy.

I need to get this rainbow flag.

Her favorite part of the table is opening and closing the red "napkin" to find the peas.

At school

With her friend Elin who is just a few days older

Dad's the tickle monster

She loves when you blow on her stomach.
Flying Madelyn up by the fan

I like to stand for long periods of time.

I stick out my tongue a lot.

Easter!

We got back from Colorado and it was almost Easter. We went to an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  Madelyn didn't really get the point of it but Connor was happy to show her. Sunday, Madelyn got her Easter basket, we went to church and then lunch at my parents.

She didn't seem to mind the Easter Bunny. Next year will probably be different.
Connor didn't really understand that you had to wait to get the eggs!

Trying to get an egg.

I got it..now what?

Putting it in her basket.
Not sure she wants to drop it in there.

Start all over!

Connor came over to show her how to do it.

Madelyn liked the swings after the Easter egg hunt better!
Attempted to get a shot of her tooth. No luck.

Madelyn's first Easter basket.

Cool shades..no they didn't last a second.

Juliana happy to see Madelyn at church

We brought some eggs along for entertainment.

Family Photo--It's hard to get everyone smiling

Easter Basket from Grandma and Grandpa Giese. She is reaching for her bear magnet.

Easter Grass is so much fun!
This photo reminds me of a photo of me when I was doing the same pose at 8 months.
Can you see my bottom tooth?

Colorado

We went for a short trip to Colorado during my sister's spring break. We flew out with Beth and Juliana and met my Dad out at Copper Mountain.  It was the first time either Juliana or Madelyn had flown and they did great!  It was a lot of fun and Brian and I enjoyed getting to ski a few days this season.  Juliana did a great job learning to ski in ski school.  Madelyn went to daycare while we were there. It wasn't the best daycare but it gave us some time to ski. They asked if she was always a happy baby since apparently she was very happy while there :)

Tuesday, April 3: This was our travel day. Once we got to Colorado, we stopped and got some groceries.

Madelyn trying to figure out how to get her snack out (Juliana showed her)

Madelyn slept on the plane twice on the way there
Madelyn loved doing Peek-a-boo to Juliana who was behind her.
Madelyn's first time in the shopping cart car--she wasn't a big fan!

Wednesday, April 4: First day skiing!  Brian and I also enjoyed an evening out by ourselves. We went to a nice fondue restaurant.  Thanks Beth!
On the slopes!
It was warm after skiing so we walked around the village.
Cups are the best toys!
Madelyn watching and learning.
Apparently, she was a goof while we were out to dinner.
We came home to this. Apparently she really wanted her blanket so my sister let her have it. Don't worry we took it off her head :)

Thursday, April 5: Second day skiing. Madelyn was determined to crawl but no luck.

What's under here?
I will get that pencil!
Closer
Long stretch.
Almost there!
Got it!
Looking like she might take off and crawl!
On our way to Madelyn's daycare. It was cold in the mornings and hot in the afternoon.

Do you see Madelyn? She's so SMALL!

Juliana was all smiles on her way to her second day at ski school.
Taking the "taxi" over to ski school.
Hummus snack! :) I love that her tongue is out.
Friday, April 6: Last day skiing. I didn't ski today so Madelyn and I watched Juliana on the bunny hill.

She actually kept her sunglasses on. Maybe she realized they were helpful.
Juliana skiing
Finally on the lift. I had to push her all the way up to the lift attendant. She didn't want to go but she loved it when she did!
Time to go to the airport!
Waiting at the airport
Peek-a-boo!
Madelyn's new look.
She loves her fruit.
Playing with the shades on the plane.
This game of take daddy's hat off occupied her most of the flight back.
With Mommy!
Madelyn's light up ball--A big hit! She even figured out how to make it work.
